Perhaps the choice of instrument is really a passive act, a mechanism inherent in matter. But what if the forces that drive this choice, whatever the instrument, do so as an expression of a dross in the soul? Then the choice of instrument would be a symptom, and playing it would be the cure.

Julie Stalder: Double bass, Viola da gamba, Lirone

Julie Stalder was born in Switzerland in 1986. From her earliest years at the conservatoire, she was fascinated by musical styles ranging from early music to contemporary music and musical theatre. After completing her double bass studies, she broadened her sound spectrum with the violone, viola da gamba and lirone.
She now performs as a freelance musician in a wide variety of repertoires in Switzerland, the Netherlands and other European Union countries.
Julie currently lives in the northern part of Amsterdam. As a permanent member of the Geneva Camerata orchestra, she is regularly in her native region.
